Hoodia Gordonii Side Effects
Hoodia Gordonii, a cactus plant that's only found in South Africa, has become very well known in recent times for its ability to suppress a persons appetite and so it's natural that people would want to know of any potential Hoodia Gordonii side effects. Of the some thirteen Hoodia species of plants that are known to exist, it's the only one to date that is known to exhibit this ability. While Hoodia grows throughout many areas of Southern Africa, the Hoodia Gordonii type is known to only grow in Namibia where the indigenous people have used it for thousands of years on their hunting trips to reduce any hunger pains without reporting any Hoodia Gordonii side effects.
For over 30 years now, Hoodia Gordonii has been studied and its properties analyzed to determine their benifits and any potential Hoodia Gordonii side effects. A few years ago, the active ingredient named P57 was extracted from Hoodia Gordonii and has been packaged into a supplement that helps with weight loss. This supplement has the same effects as those one would gain from eating Hoodia Gordonii as the tribesmen of South Africa have done for thousands of years. When compared to diet pills or other weigh loss products, there have been no confirmed reports of Hoodia Gordonii side effects like depression, disorientation, weakness, nausea, digestive disorders or stomachaches. Along with this information, Hoodia Gordonii has also been proven completely safe for use as a weight loss aid.
So while there are no known Hoodia Gordonii side effects when used as a food supplement, there are some reports that some Hoodia Gordonii products have no effect or are only slightly effective. These reports can be attributed to several things. For one, the Hoodia Gordonii plant has to reach 7+ years of maturity so that it will have it's optimum potency and products made from Hoodia Gordonii must use the inner portion of the stem in order to get the active component required to get the hunger reducing effect. However, there are many products for sale that use young plants or they use the spikes or outer skin of the Hoodia plant and yet they market themselves as containing Hoodia Gordonii. In addition, you need to take the proper dose of Hoodia Gordonii daily in order to get the full effect which can be in the range of 750mg to 1000mg a day whereas most Hoodia Gordonii only contain, at most, 400mg.
